You simply respond to the writing opportunities. You can also place your own classified ad on these sites. Second, you can bid for writing jobs on such outsourcing sites as guru.com, elance.com, rentacoder.com, and others. On these sites, people post specific jobs and you simply respond with a bid. Third, there are a number of Internet related websites with forums where you can advertise your writing skills (generally at discounted prices). Such web sites include The Warrior Forum, Digital Point, and SitePoint. If you're a decent writer, it doesn't take long to build a body of work and a solid reputation as a freelance writer. It does, however, require putting your nose to the grindstone.
